The Goldfields Explorer is a cultural heritage and tourism application for the Otago Goldfields in New Zealand. Using this app, forgotten cities come back to life with the built-in augmented reality mode. The application furthermore contains tracking routes and points of interest with exciting stories about the history of that area. When visiting two particular areas, you can hold your camera in front of you and take a look at how the Bendigo school and an old gold mine dredge might have looked like.

This app was developed during my time with the HitLab NZ and can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store. I designed and fully developed the application. The Augmented-Reality mode uses the HitLab’s Outdoor AR-Framework, to which I contributed work as well.
